Dr. Robert Doty's Science Fiction Collection

Dr. Robert Doty was my friend and mentor. I first met him as a boy at Campbellsville University where my dad taught New Testament and Greek in the Christian Studies department. The picture above is from 1991-1992. Years later, I took Dr. Doty as an undergraduate and a Master's student, studying English Literature. While working on a PhD in English Literature, we met regularly to discuss critical approaches to texts.

I kept up with Dr. Doty over the past few years and, living in Campbellsville again since 2018, often visited him in his office on Campbellsville University's campus.

In November 2019 he gave me his science fiction collection. He read widely in the SF genre, particularly hard SF from the 50s-70s. I've included all the titles from his collection below.

Dr. Doty passed away January 8, 2020.

Me: "Do you ever take walks and read?"
Dr. Doty: "Oh no. When I'm in, I'm in. When I'm out, I'm wide open!"
